if
my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray
and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from
heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land. (2 Chronicles 7: 14) NIV
Today
is the national day of prayer. It is a very important day for
believers to join together in unity and pray for our nation. Often this
day is just seen as any other day and we say a few prayers and go on our
merry little way. However, in my quiet time with the Lord I felt him
urge me to remind you that the power of prayer is still alive and well! His word says that the
same spirit that raised Christ from the dead is the same spirit that
lives in us today. Do you truly understand how powerful statement is? Do
you truly understand the awesomeness of his presence when we invite him
in? He is almighty God the creator of our universe! He breathed life
into your
very being! There is no one greater than him!
Unfortunately, we often take for granted the amazing avenue of
communication he has given us to connect with him... Prayer! Often, we
don’t give him much time or energy when it comes to praying. Some might
even be in a place today where you have pretty much given up on prayer
because you feel your prayers just bounce off the ceiling and never get
answered. You may even struggle with believing that he is really there.
Let me tell you, my friend, that he has never left your side! He is for
you and not against you! He longs to spend time with you! Quality time!
Don’t let unanswered prayers
keep you distant from him. Remember he holds the master plan. He knows
what he is doing. Your part is to remain faithful through the good and the bad.
He
makes a promise to us that if we will humble ourselves and take action
to pray, seek his face and turn from our wicked ways he will reward us
by hearing us, forgiving us and healing our land. I don’t know about you
but I want his rewards! I don’t want a life without prayer! I want to
be a true friend of God!
Today
on this national day of prayer, I urge you to get serious with God! He
is with you! He is real! Let's honor him the way he deserves. Let's call
on him to flood our lives and the lives of our entire nation. Don’t
ever let go!
